We’re pleased to announce the opening of our second Retul equipped fitting studio. Bike Science Derby opens for business on Monday the 23rd of August, with bookings for each level of bike fit being taken online NOW. Derby fitter Andy Brooke gained the highly coveted Retul University bike fit certification in July 2010, is a Cytech Level 2 qualified mechanic and British Cycling Level 2 Coach as well as a keen triathlete, road and track cyclist. Our Derby location becomes the only Retul equipped bike fit studio in the East Midlands.

The Retul system uses infra red 3D motion capture while the rider is in motion and offers bike fitters the most accurate information on which to base their fitting decisions. No other system provides real time, dynamic measurements with such reliable, repeatable accuracy. Retul is chosen by pro cycling team Radio Shack and pro triathlon team K-Swiss Trek. Bike Science Fit “The Sun” Triathlon Team

Bike Science Bristol recently had a visit from none other than Gordon Smart, editor of The Sun Newspapers “Bizarre” entertainment column. Gordon’s heading up an intrepid team of ten wannabe triathletes from The Sun including “The Big Man” from Bolton, Radio 1 DJ Vernon Kay. There’s been some serious verbal sparring between the team members so expect to see, Vernon, Gordon and the rest of the team tearing up the tarmac during this years London Triathlon. Gordon and Vernon’s task master, personal trainer James Daly received his Planet X SL Pro Carbon and bike set up as he also prepares to show his understudies who’s the boss on the London course. Ian Cammish Bike Fit – I’m a Triathlete!

As a bike fitter, last Saturday was always going to be interesting and to be honest I’d fully expected that we’d take a set of Retul measurements from 9 times BBAR winner and one of the most experienced time trial riders in the UK and simply confirm his riding position was bang on and leave it at that. As it happens, after checking and re-checking Ian’s position we ended up making some pretty significant changes…
